3. Fiat 500L
In 2014, the Fiat 500L made it to the top of Consumer Reports Worst Cars list. It was rated a staggering 219 percent below average in the area of reliability.
Problems with the Fiat 500L include:
- jerky dual-clutch automatic transmission
- slow acceleration
- back up camera and sensor problems

- radio malfunctions
4. Nissan Pathfinder
The Pathfinder also appeared on the list of most recalled cars in 2014. It scored consistently low on reliability ratings from both industry professionals and average consumers. The transmission on the Pathfinder has a tendency to stick or slip, both of which can be extremely dangerous.
The torque converter and lift-gate have had some issues as well. The Pathfinder scored 154 percent below average in a reliability test performed by Consumer Reports in 2013.
5. Ford Fiesta
The Ford Fiesta was actually considered the least reliable car by some automotive experts, and for good reason. In 2014, it scored 162 percent below average in terms of reliability. In fact, the Fiesta has been in the top cars for recalls for at least the past three years. Even with this low score, this type of car has been around for over five years.
